Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Born on 19 February 1951 in Jhang, Punjab. He took a first-class honours degree from the University of the Punjab in 1970, an MA in Islamic Studies with a university gold medal in 1972 and an LLB in 1974, and went on to teach international constitutional law at the same university.

He founded Minhaj-ul-Quran International in 1980, which now works in more than ninety countries, and founded the Pakistan Awami Tehreek in 1989, leading it until 2019. He has authored a very large body of work in Urdu, Arabic and English, including an eight-volume Quranic encyclopaedia.
